Any Benefits to New Youtube Channel Design?

Normally I don't complain when a website does an upgrade but I just don't like the new Youtube channel design.
I played around with it when it first came out then quickly changed back.
To me it takes away the personality of your individual channel. For example you can't change it to match a theme with a background photo or change the colors or look of it.

I do like that playlist can be featured more prominently.
Maybe I am missing something. Does anyone see features that they like about the new design?

If there are any benefits they are far out weighted by the ugly design. Mine was changed today, and now it is back where it was before. And I dislike the new homepage, too. I used to be able to quickly scan through the new videos (and some I had already seen) and either view them or click the "X" to remove them (after I watched.) Now my screen is cluttered with videos I have already seen, while those I haven't seen are buried pages down. Horrible. I'm sorry for the accounts that I am subscribed to that work hard to put up videos, and I don't even know they are out there. There was a work-around link that pointed to the old format, but that is now gone, too. Somebody must be making more money - that's all that seems to drive these web sites now!

I came to this thread hoping that someone might have found something good about the new YouTube . As I suspected there was no good to be found.

I am not a fan of the new design either. I keep going back to it hoping I missed something. Nope. It will completely change how I use YT as a fan and supporter. Yeah...I guess I can use Playlists instead of favorites to show off my top 10 (or more). It just won't be as easy for me to have a support channel. I'll find a way to make it work...but for now...NO, not happy.

That's why I immediately "Downgraded" my channel to the original design when they changed it without my permission!

I bit the bullet and decided to just go with the new design and find a way to make it work for me. I had posted the above quote to my Facebook profile a few days ago. It applies here me thinks.

I don`t understand why people are alway trying to change things. If it work don`t fix it. I was told in learning business that if something is making you money then don`t reinvent the wheel go with what is working. I am sorry but i don`t like the new youtube either !
